Rhythm Passport holders… Welcome back aboard!
After a few months of radio silence, we are once again on air with a monthly show that will bring you new music from the four corners of the world here on Groovalisation. 60 minutes of brand new stuff and a quick music calendar of shows happening in London over the next few days.
We kick off in Berlin with the highlife of Jembaa Groove, joined by Fatoumata Diawara and The Cavemen, and we close in Seoul with LEENALCHI, who turn an old Korean folk tale about a turtle, a rabbit and a sick Dragon King into a groove for two bass guitars.
In between, Lagos Thugs want to know who is really enjoying the good life. Chudahye Chagis take a Jeju island chant for driving out spirits and put it over a hip-hop beat. Tamada and DillaNext mix Georgian toasts with electronics, Calibro 35 bring their crime funk to a documentary on James Ellroy, and from Colombia La Muchacha tells her president that the páramo is not for sale.
Eleven of the artists on the show are playing London in the coming weeks. You’ll hear the dates as you listen, and you’ll find them below too.
So sit back, relax and enjoy the music.
