Daily Discovery: Noção Rasta – The Blood Of Jah Has Power

Noção Rasta formed in 1999 in Rio de Janeiro’s Grajaú and spent years spreading the nickname Grajamaica for the neighbourhood, a word they coined to mark how deep reggae ran there.

“The Blood Of Jah Has Power” is their latest release, a Rastafari doctrinal statement set to fast-tempo roots reggae, with André Dy Oliveira‘s vocals declaring the blood of Jah as a source of spiritual power and protection, carried on Igor Mesquita‘s keys and Leka Maia‘s bass while Marcelo Tenório keeps the drums tight, until Fabinho Teixeira‘s guitar breaks into a solo and the backing vocals rise to meet it.

The band recorded the single at Estúdio Rampa and released it in February. You can stream and listen to “The Blood Of Jah Has Power” HERE
