Twenty years after its first release, Katchafire return to one of their earliest anthems with “Get Away (Revival 2.0)”. The track reworks their 2003 single from the double-platinum debut Revival, newly remixed and remastered ahead of the Revival 2.0 album, due on 9 January 2026.
Led by Logan Bell and produced with Stephen Maxwell and Phillip McFarlane, the track restores the warmth of the original while refining its rhythm and tonal balance. Guitars and brass sit in tight formation around Bell’s phrasing, keeping the band’s roots reggae foundation intact while shaping it through Pacific rhythm and ensemble precision.
The lyrics unfold in everyday language, describing work, family, and fatigue through conversational flow. Bell’s phrasing moves like spoken rhythm, the refrain “I gotta get away” looping as both hook and release. Domestic frustration becomes cadence, its repetition mirroring reggae timing and the ease of escape the song describes.
Formed in Hamilton in the late 1990s, Katchafire grew from family rehearsals into an eight-piece ensemble linking Māori heritage with global reggae. For more than two decades, the band has carried the sound of Pacific reggae from Aotearoa to the world. Their songs trace everyday life and shared strength through rhythm, harmony, and live performance.
