Out 24 October on Cumbancha, Cheikh Ibra Fam releases “Gnou Mbollo”, the third single from his upcoming album Adouna (Life), scheduled for February 2026. The Senegalese singer, formerly of Orchestra Baobab and a recipient of the Charles Cros Academy Prize, draws from his Baye Fall spiritual background and a lifetime of cross-continental musical experience.
“Gnou Mbollo” means “Let’s Unite” in Wolof. It opens with the lines Whenever I go, however far / I still miss my Africa, before moving toward action: It’s time for us to know who we are / We must act together, move as one. The chorus repeats Let’s unite, come, let’s unite, turning the phrase into a public call.
The song maps movement “from Congo to Panama” and “Senegal to Brazil”, linking African, Caribbean and Latin American histories. It closes with a message of direction and ancestry: If you don’t know where you’re going, go back where you come from … My ancestors tell me that in unity, there is power.
The video, directed by Mao Sidibé and produced by Mao Prod, was filmed in Dakar’s Medina district and the Yoff fishing community. It shows everyday cooperation and dance as expressions of shared effort and purpose.
“Gnou Mbollo” follows “Xam Xam” and “Sali”, previous singles from Adouna (Life), which develop themes of knowledge, authenticity and connection. Together they shape an album rooted in spirituality, identity and mutual responsibility.
