Naya Rockers join Stephen Marley on “The Right Path”, a reggae anthem taken from the album Higher Education. Centred on themes of unity, compassion, and ecological responsibility, the track calls listeners to reject greed and violence while choosing a more sustainable direction. Its refrain urges, “step on the right path”, turning the song into both a warning and a communal rally.
Anchored by US-based drummer Nathan Sabanayagam, Naya Rockers have spent two decades as a live and studio ensemble, backing legends such as Clinton Fearon, Barrington Levy, Earl Chinna Smith, and Ken Boothe, while also supporting a younger generation including Addis Pablo, Jah’Mila, and Iba Mhar. Alongside their work as a touring unit, they operate Naya Records, a platform for international collaborations that connect US reggae circuits with Jamaican and global voices.
Marley’s phrasing cuts through the mix, his vocal timbre interlocking with clipped guitar and a tight rhythm section, pushing the refrain forward as a direct call to action. The track’s lyrical content expands reggae’s long tradition of social and environmental commentary, grounding it in present urgencies.
A significant portion of proceeds from Higher Education will be donated to the Alpha School of Music in Kingston, continuing the educational and community-building dimension of the project.
