Deejay Theory joins forces with Jamaican vocalist Eesah for “Gun Sound”, reimagined here in a dub version crafted by Digital Ancient. Based in the US, Deejay Theory has long operated at the intersections of reggae, dancehall, and global club music, with collaborations spanning Kabaka Pyramid, Mavado, Sizzla, and beyond.
This new dub treatment strips the song back to elemental bass and echo, with legendary Zion I Kings bassist Jah David laying down a fresh foundation. Digital Ancient pushes the mix into cavernous delay and reverb, drawing on classic Jamaican dub methodology while keeping the vocal fragments and instrumental cues of the original alive in the texture. Final mastering by Tippy I Grade lends the track the sonic weight and clarity associated with his work for Protoje and Chronixx.
The version closes the loop between US and Jamaican collaborators, carrying the track into a second life within the dub tradition.
