Annega’s new single “Losean,” from her upcoming album Stories, is a moving call to protect our oceans and lagoons. Highlighting the devastating effects of toxic sunscreens—14,000 tonnes of which enter the oceans annually, causing coral bleaching and poisoning—the track promotes eco-friendly, reef-safe alternatives. 

Blending elements of her Mauritian heritage with electro-pop, Annega incorporates traditional instruments like the kayamb—crafted from sugarcane stems and seeds—to create a unique, organic sound. Sung in Mauritian Creole, the lyrics depict the beauty, diversity, and vulnerability of the ocean. The song begins with an invitation to reflect on our shared responsibility to protect marine life and calls for collective action to preserve these natural treasures for future generations.
