Superfónicos, an Austin-based Afro-Colombian funk band, is releasing their new single “La Verdad” ahead of their upcoming album, Renaceré, tomorrow, 19th of July. Renaceré, meaning “I Will Be Reborn,” delves into themes of rebirth and resilience, blending Colombian roots with African, and indie-funk and soul influences.

The album was recorded over several years at Lechehouse in Buda, Texas, with GRAMMY-winning producer Beto Martinez. Additional sessions took place at Public Hi-Fi in Austin with Jim Eno and at Electric Deluxe with Aaron Glemboski.

Renaceré features diverse tracks such as the psychedelic cumbia “La Verdad,” the Latin soul “Bogota Boogaloo,” and a fusion of Jamaican dub and Colombian porro in “Lunetta.”
