A special fundraising tribute to London’s late great guitarist and percussionist Pablo Domínguez from Cadiz, featuring his fellow musicians, his friends and concerts.

IBERIAN COLOURS quintet invites the audience on a musical journey exploring the relationship between Spanish classical repertoire and traditional music, sharing the vivid colours, earthy textures, and vivid rhythms of Spanish musical art. They seek to expand the possibilities of the Chamber Music repertoire. The key to their originality lies in the close collaboration between musicians from their different traditions, giving rise to a group of great charisma and personality. The ensemble, formed in 2011, consists of Maria Camahort (guitar & arrangements), Violeta García (violin & vocals), Laura Ruhí-Vidal (soprano), Sergio Serra (cello). Pablo Domínguez’ percussion will here be performed by Demi García Sabat. The quintet has appeared at some of the most prestigious venues in the UK, including Kings Place, Southbank Centre, Milton Court, Cervantes Theatre, and The Sage. Festival appearances include the London Guitar Festival, Edinburgh Guitar Festival, North-East Guitar Festival, Buxton Festival, Festival Francisco Tárrega (Benicàssim), Clásicos en Verano (Madrid), Festival Áureo Herrero (Ávila), and Música a Boqueta Nit (Alicante), among others. JAVIER RUIBAL, composer, singer songwriter, writer of poetry, lyrics and prose, from El Puerto de Santa Maria (Cadiz), has been performing and producing music since the late 1970s, influenced by the sounds of the Maghreb imbibed from the radio, backdrop of his childhood, flamenco, jazz and rock.
He is known for his masterful ability not only to compose beautiful melodies but also for his talent as a wordsmith. Driven by a passionate desire to overcome through sonorous means the discriminatory rigidity of borders, he aims for integration and bountiful intercultural connections now and into the future, a desire that has taken him to perform all across Spain, Algeria, the West Bank, New York and the UK. His songs overflow with emotion and luminosity that touch the soul. CHANO DOMINGUEZ, father of Pablo, “gaditano” musician – from Cadiz – and pianist was awarded the 2020 National Prize for Current Music by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Spain for his “very personal style” and “his long career of four decades dedicated to music, as a composer, performer and arranger”. He is constantly redefining the boundaries between jazz and flamenco and his innovative playing has captivated audiences worldwide, including fellow musicians from both genres. He has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Paco de Lucía, Wynton Marsalis, and Herbie Hancock, showcasing his exceptional interpretive skills. His compositions have been performed by prestigious orchestras and ensembles, including the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and the WDR Cologne Big Band.
