This Deptford Dub Club features a feast of talent, headlined by the legendary Tessa Pollitt. She’ll be spinning 100% Roots and Culture Reggae, in Soundsystem style. Tessa was the bassie throughout the career of legendary sonic warriors The Slits, who’s seminal 70s LP “Cut” was produced by Dub-master Dennis Bovell. The inimitable Tessa draws from a deep love of the music and selects from a mighty collection, mostly amassed back in the day. Her deep and heavy, dubwise sets are always a great pleasure and are consistently warmly received, both at the D.D.C. and at diverse venues like the I.C.A., the BFI and the London Ska aplomb.
Resident selector, Soft Wax, will also be spinning, after Dirt Bike Dub. Expect a carefully chosen selection of Ska, Rocksteady and early Reggae from him early on. Then he’ll be joined by the usual instrumental and vocal accompanists, live and direct on the mic., for which the club has become known. Our resident singjay, the mighty Singjay Doc Murdoc, will be MCing right throughout the session. Waxy will be accompanied by very special guests, including our fresh horns crew, led by Tombone ( Dub Pistols ) and Natty ( RaSamurai.) Waxy will also be on SoundFX during Tessa’s set. Also guesting on the mic will be various club Spring.
