After introducing Italian techno-jazz trio TUN (Torino Unlimited Noise) and their musical selection through a handpicked playlist, it’s time to spotlight another act performing on the 17th of May at Peckham Levels, Nigerian afro-house, afrobeat, and hip-hop artist Ekiti Sound.
Ekiti Sound, a pioneer in Nigeria’s new wave of electronic music, blends the vibrant energy of Lagos with London’s dynamic culture, drawing on his experience as a Nollywood sound designer. His groundbreaking radio show, The Ekiti Sound Show on Hot FM Lagos, is Nigeria’s first dedicated to electronic music and has further established his influence. Additionally, he hosts a new weekly slot on Beat London 103.6FM, where every Wednesday from 9-11 PM, he spins a mix of afro tech, tribal tech, afro house, and afrotronica on The ADM Show.
Ekiti Sound first gained international acclaim with his 2019 debut album Abeg No Vex, which won the German Music Critics Award for Best Electronic & Experimental Album. His latest album, Drum Money, released one year ago via Crammed Discs, mixes Nigerian music with electronic beats and hip-hop, featuring contributions from prominent Lagos musicians.
Explore his musical influences through a specially curated playlist and don’t miss his upcoming set at Peckham Levels on the 17th of May, where he’ll share the stage with TUN featuring Dub FX
