Prepare for a unique Sunday evening at the Jazz Cafe in Camden, where Latin sounds purveyors Como No! bring together the legendary Jards Macalé, an institution in samba, MPB and Tropicália, and the soulful Raquel Martins, whose music beautifully merges soul with jazz. The event is further enriched by Far Out Recordings DJs, offering an authentic Brazilian music vibe.
Jards Macalé, a multi-talented composer, singer, and actor from Rio de Janeiro, has been a trailblazer in Brazilian music, particularly in samba and Tropicália, since the 1960s. His collaborative efforts with music eminences such as Caetano Veloso and Gal Costa have been instrumental in defining the Brazilian music landscape. Known for his innovative blend of samba with rock, jazz, and bossa nova, Macalé has played a key role in enriching Brazilian music’s global appeal.
To set the mood for the event and highlight the musical brilliance of Macalé, our good friend from São Paulo, AmarAll – a London-based DJ, event organiser, and the driving force behind BAILA Portuñol – has compiled a playlist featuring Tropicalia classics alongside Jards Macalé’s standout tracks.
