Daily Discovery: Vox Sambou – Toya (Official Video)

Vox Sambou is a gifted rap and spoken word artist from Haiti who writes and performs in several different languages including Haitian Creole, French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. He is also one of the founding members of the hip-hop collective Nomadic Massive based in Montréal.

His songs incorporate a range of musical styles, such as Haitian rhythms, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latin, afrobeat, reggae & hip-hop.

His latest single symbolises the strength and resilience of Haitian women who have suffered countless injustices yet maintain their dignity. This is mainly due to the example of their ancestor Toya – a brave leader from the Haitian revolution who has motivated them to persevere through hard times.
