Trio da Mata e Sua Fauna, established in 2021 in the vibrant neighbourhood of Guamá in Belém, located in Brazil’s Amazon region, merges traditional carimbó music from Marapanim with Caribbean influences to create a distinctive sound that honours its roots while appealing to a broad audience. The group’s music, which celebrates Afro-Brazilian cultural heritage, has earned recognition on both local and international stages.
In August 2022, the group performed their song “Dona Pereira” at the TERREIRO AUTORAL event at Núcleo de Conexões Ná Figueredo, highlighting their engaging live performance style. They are also known for participating in community music events like Samba na Feira do Açaí.
Currently, the ensemble is preparing new music, with plans to showcase these works in upcoming performances alongside noted percussionist Marcelino Santos.
