“Jaano Jot,” Sonny Singh‘s latest single, was released on the 8th August. This Punjabi-cumbia song, produced by Grammy-nominated Kaveh Rastegar, features lyrics from Guru Nanak, founder of Sikhism, that reject caste and promote equality. The song emphasises recognising the divine light within every individual and dismantling societal barriers. Singh emphasises the song’s relevance today, as it calls for action against dehumanisation and social injustice.
The music video, directed by Shruti Parekh, showcases the langar hall at Gurdwara Baba Makhan Shah Lobana in Queens, where volunteers prepare free meals, reflecting Sikh ideals of community service and equality.
“Jaano Jot” is part of Singh’s upcoming album Sage Warrior, set for release on the 6th of September, accompanied by a book of the same name by writer and activist Valarie Kaur. Singh and Kaur will tour the US to promote both the album and the book. For more information, visit THIS LINK
