Qairo‘s debut single “Por Mi Ventana,” from their upcoming album set to be released in January 2025, showcases a modern mix of flamenco, Turkish, and Bulgarian influences. Drawing inspiration from ’80s flamenco-pop and contemporary Bulgarian clarinet, this vibrant track explores themes of unrequited love, capturing the dramatic essence of traditional flamenco. The lyrics express a deep yearning and sorrow, using vivid imagery of green fields and moonlit paths to symbolise both hope and emotional despair.
Formed in Granada, Spain, in February 2020, the band is now based in Bordeaux, France, and consists of members from France, Spain, Canada, and Turkey. Influenced by artists such as Israël Fernández, Balkan Beat Box, and Ladaniva, Qairo’s music fuses Mediterranean grooves with Balkan and Oriental influences, enriched with electronic sounds. Their songs provide a journey of cultural exploration, merging Spanish vocals with Middle Eastern instruments against rhythmic beats.
