Daily Discovery: Pascuala Ilabaca y Fauna – Sábanas Azules

Pascuala Ilabaca, the renowned Chilean singer/songwriter and accordionist, has released her new single, “Sábanas Azules.” This track, rooted in cumbia, delves into the concept that pleasure opposes fear, proposing that orgasm represents a moment when humans lose their deepest fear: the fear of death.

“Sábanas Azules,” which enjoyed the production of Medellin-based Juan Esteban Duque and 409 Estudio, is the first preview of Pascuala’s upcoming EP, Poética Bailable Vol. 1, set to release in the second half of this year. The EP will feature five new songs inspired by danceable rhythms like cumbia and timba, combined with evocative lyrics. It follows her 2023 album Porteña, which saw her and her band tour the United States, including performances at iconic venues like Joe’s Pub in New York.

Supported by her trusty band, Fauna, Pascuala is known for blending diverse musical genres with poetic, introspective, and meaningful lyrics. Their aim is to take listeners on an emotional and reflective journey while keeping them engaged with lively, danceable music.
