BBE Music is set to re-release Seaman Jolly, the iconic album from Ghanaian Burger Highlife legend Paa Jude, on the 10th of January 2025. Originally released on Asona Records, Seaman Jolly is a vibrant fusion of highlife, afrobeat, and disco-inspired grooves that defined Ghana’s evolving music scene in the 1980s.

The album’s title track, “Seaman Jolly,” embodies pure celebration, blending smooth vocals, infectious rhythms, and synth-driven melodies. A standout example of Burger Highlife, it reflects the styles’ unique mix of traditional West African melodies with electronic beats and Western influences, born from the Ghanaian diaspora during a time of economic hardship and creative innovation.

This reissue honours Paa Jude’s legacy and the groundbreaking sounds of Asona Records, a key player in Ghana’s Burger Highlife movement.
