Msaki x Tubatsi is a new musical project from South African singer/songwriter Msaki and Tubatsi Mpho Moloi of Johannesburg band Urban Village.
They recently released their debut album, Synthetic Hearts, out for Nø Førmat!, which features French cellist Clément Petit, who also wrote ‘Come In’, the first single extracted from the album.
The album is an experimental and minimalist nine-track project that mixes live and electronic elements, merging voices, instruments, and sounds across geographies and genres. It explores themes of love, longing, confusion, sorrow, and vulnerability.
Recorded at Jazzworx, Johannesburg, Synthetic Hearts intentionally reveals the inescapable brokenness at the heart of what it means to be human and love.
