Manu Chao has teamed up with country legend Willie Nelson for “Heaven’s Bad Day,” a standout track from his new album Viva Tu, marking his first release in 17 years. Chao describes the song as capturing the ennui of an idealised life: “You always feel you have to live in this comfortable little paradise, but that can get boring pretty quickly when you’re not in the company of a little he-devil or she-devil. You need to shake things up a bit!” The album, released yesterday (20/09) via Because music, heralds his return with a blend of upbeat rhythms and far-reaching global sounds.
The release of the single coincides with Manu Chao gearing up for an anticipated concert at Brixton Academy in London, marking his first city performance in 14 years as part of the Acoustico Tour. This concert will showcase a blend of new tracks from Viva Tu and timeless hits from his classic albums such as Clandestino and Proxima Estación Esperanza. Attendees can look forward to a comprehensive setlist, presented in a more intimate, acoustic setting with the accompaniment of Argentine-Italian guitarist Lucky Salvadori and Galician percussionist Miguel Rumbao.
