Last summer in Brussels, La Chiva Gantiva brought together 14 musicians from diverse backgrounds for a live session, performing their new single “Yo Vuelo al Revés” (I Fly Backwards), a tribute to resilience and shared roots through music.
Formed in 2011 by three Colombian percussionists, the band blends rock, funk, hip-hop, punk, and Afro-Colombian rhythms like cumbia, mapalé, and tambora into a vibrant, genre-defying sound. Renowned for their electrifying live performances, they’ve toured across five continents and released three albums: Pelao (2011), Vivo (2014), and Depegue (2017).
Led by frontman Rafael Espinel, the group has grown to include members from Colombia, Belgium, Vietnam, and Chile, reflecting their unique multicultural roots.
