Karola Nunes, a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist from Rondonópolis, Mato Grosso, released her new single, “Botânica,” on Friday, 20th September. Written during a period of personal introspection amid the pandemic, the song explores the intricate connections between humans and the present day. Already recognised with several music festival awards, “Botânica” delves deeper into Nunes’ recurring themes of nature and interconnectedness.
The track features collaborations with renowned band Rockers Control a São Paulo-based band known for their distinctive mix of Jamaican dub and experimental influences. The group, consisting of Bruno Buarque (drums, percussion), Cris Scabello (guitar, vocals), and MAU (bass), brings a rich, layered sound to “Botânica.” With additional production by Grammy-winner Gustavo Lenza and Marcos Maurício, the song blends Karola’s signature roots reggae style with complex harmonies, multi-layered instrumentation, and thoughtful lyrical depth, building on her influence in a region traditionally dominated by sertanejo music.
“Botânica,” which was released as part of an initiative supported by the Municipal Secretary of Culture, Sports, and Leisure of Cuiabá/MT and the Federal Ministry of Culture, is available HERE
