Jorge Aguilar y Sus Embelecos return to Berroche on “Eres Tú Mi Rosa”, grounding the track in a rhythm shaped along Colombia’s Magdalena River and opening it to collaboration with Senegalese guitarist Mustapha “Tapha” Gaye.
Released on 5 December via Astar Artes, “Eres Tú Mi Rosa” is driven by tambores that establish the Berroche rhythm from the outset. Gaye’s guitar phrases move alongside the drums, introducing West African melodic logic without shifting the track’s focus away from its Caribbean base. The tama adds a further rhythmic voice, using pitch variation and phrasing to place African and Afro-Caribbean practices in direct conversation. John Hollis’s production keeps the playing clear and unembellished, allowing each element to remain audible on its own terms.
Aguilar’s vocal follows the logic of coastal sung tradition, shaping a love song that stays close to the rhythmic frame beneath it. The Berroche form referenced here comes specifically from riverbank communities along the Magdalena, and the track treats that source with respect while allowing other musical languages to enter the space.
