Eliades Ochoa, the founding member of Buena Vista Social Club, has released the first single “Se Soltó Un León” from his upcoming album Guajiro, featuring collaborations with Rubén Blades, Joan as Police Woman, and Charlie Musselwhite.
The track features fiery horn arrangements and is a classic Puerto Rican plena, showcasing Ochoa’s ability to bring together different musical traditions in a way that is both authentic and modern. “Se Soltó Un León” is a perfect introduction to Ochoa’s Guajiro, which promises to be a musical journey that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Cuba and Latin America.
The LP is set to release on May 26th via World Circuit Records. Additionally, Ochoa will embark on the Guajiro tour from April to October, covering several countries including Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Norway, Morocco, Italy, and Germany, among others, with a show at Koko in London on the 29th of October.
