London-based uptempo institution Dub Pistols brings back the summer vibes with the release of ‘Soundboy Killa’, featuring MC and DJ Natty Campbell and Freestylers.
After recently commemorating the 25th anniversary, the collective put out the second single from the upcoming album Frontline. Set to be out March 10th on Cyclone Records, the LP revives the quintessential sound of the band, a blend of dub, hip-hop, ska, and jungle
As Barry Ashworth, frontman of the Dub Pistols, commented: “I’ve been acquainted with Aston from Freestylers for around a quarter of a century, when we both made it big in what was dubbed as ‘the big beat scene’ along with Fatboy Slim and Chemical Brothers. We’d go on US tours, so we’ve been friends for quite some time. ‘Cyclone’ by Dub Pistols and ‘Roughneck’ by Freestylers were our breakthrough tracks. We wanted to pay homage to those, so ‘Soundboy Killa’ is a throwback to those delightful days but with a modern spin.”
