Calema, the musical duo of brothers Fradique and António Mendes Ferreira, released their EP Voyage Part 1 yesterday 2nd August, featuring the single “Distinu” with Dino D’Santiago.
The EP celebrates their African roots and tells stories of family, emigration, and resilience. “Distinu” is a tribute to their grandfather, Nho Toto, and his emigration journey from Cape Verde to São Tomé.
Created during the pandemic, the EP also includes “Xinguinha,” “Alice,” and “Diaxi Má Kua Buaru,” exploring themes of family unity, love, and seeking better opportunities.
Known for their powerful voices and Afro-Luso heritage, Calema will celebrate 15 years in music with a Euro Tour also promoting the new EP.
