“Moto Ya Mama” by Bru-Kin is a Lingala song about the bond between mother and child, taken from their self-titled debut album BRU-KIN, released on June 10, 2025. The track links hip-hop-influenced drums with guitar lines from Ray S. Zimbabwe, keeping the focus on that relationship while the beat stays close to rap pacing.
Bru-Kin (Brussels-Kinshasa) pairs Congolese-Belgian singer Sylvie Nawasadio, veteran of Zap Mama, with Belgian multi-instrumentalist and producer Bart Petitjean from Hakuna Patata and Crosswind Collective. Nawasadio works with African vocal traditions and vocal experimentation. Petitjean handles guitars, keys, rhythm programming and extensive use of plugins in the studio.
Across previous singles like “Miss Africa“, “A Forest” and “Zievereir” (inspired by Brussels’ Matongé district), they combine Congolese dance rhythms and soukous guitar with dub-influenced basslines, house and international R&B production. Their arrangements use vocal harmonies, detailed percussion parts and electronic sound design as core elements. The Brussels-Kinshasa link runs through the whole project.
